Happy 6th Birthday

We are celebrating Sheridan’s 6th birthday today. We started with breakfast and he got to open his birthday presents. He got an iTouch to replace his dying Digi game system. He also got a new Timex watch which is similar to mine, but just the right size for him. His first watch was a regular dial watch that we used to help teach him to tell time.

The new one is digital since he has learned to read a clock and tell time on the old fashion clocks or watches. I cannot tell you the number of my high school students who cannot read a clock. The percentage is quite large and I suspect is close to 50% or larger. It is sad that a whole generation depends on their phones to tell them the time and cannot read a clock and does not have a use for a watch.

We opened his presents at breakfast. He also got a Tae Kwon Do blocker and target pad. We then went to Tae Kwon Do for his lesson. He got the traditional birthday popping with the blocker. The picture looks like he is getting clobbered, but in reality it was seven soft taps. We had a great deal of fun explaining this tradition to him over the last couple of days.

The day progressed to lunch with BaBa at Firehouse Subs and then onto our quarterly Adoption Option get together. This was great as he got to play and spend time with friends and of course have a cake. However, this is the subject for another post.
