A Fishing Themed Birthday Party
Posted by BaBa under: Friends and Family .
We attended a fishing themed birthday party for one of Sheridan’s home school co-op friends. It was asmall party held at a local farm with two small fishing ponds each about the size of a swimming pool. He really wanted to take fish. We had borrowed a fishing rod from the Straights and he was anxious to try it out. I showed him how to cast the rod and he tried it a few times. He will need to work on this skill. He hooked the line (no hook) on a rope in the pond and we finally got it loose and this represented the end of his casting. He tried fishing with the rod and with a cane pole, but still had no luck at catching his first fish. The birthday boy did catch one and that is the most important thing for a party. There were a couple of catfish caught as one pond was stocked with catfish and the other with brim.
The boys played with limbs and twigs building a pretend fire. They were later able to add the twigs to a real fire pit prepared by the hosts. The boys also got to run and play and enjoy each other while the adults had time to talk and enjoy the day. There was a short hayride along with pizza and of course birthday cake. It was a beautiful day coupled with fun activities and a relaxing event that made for a unique and memorable birthday party.
