Off on a Cruise or Not

Well part of the family is off on a cruise. Actually most of the family. My parents, Sheridan, MaMa, my brother-in-law and niece. I am stuck here at home. This is due to the Ice Storm this year and school taking away the Winter Break to replace the days we missed. It was an option that was decided in a rush and in secret. It really bites.

My sister and nephew also missed the sailing, but for an entirely different reason. He was injured by his cousin in Florida prior to the cruise. He has a bruised Retina and scratched Cornea. He is in the hospital in Orlando with my sister. His injury prevented them from sailing. Another instance of this really biting.

Not much else to say. I had planned the trip with all of them for us to celebrate by traveling together – Dad’s recovery from heart surgery in November. At least all of my arrangements as to the booking, hotels and travel documents went flawlessly for both Sheridan, MaMa and my brother-in-law, sister and children.

I hope that they have a great time and take plenty of pictures so that I can enjoy the stories and photos when they return. Tomorrow, I teach classes at both levels. I suspect that I will see absentee rates of a 1/3 as many parents will continue with their plans regardless of the change made by the school board. Here’s hoping for a quiet week on my end and a fun time for those on the sea.
