First Friday Preparations
Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life; First Fridays .
First Friday is coming soon and I got a call from Susan to help with putting together the information into a presentation for the evening. Tonight, we burned some meat on the grill (steaks for the adults and hot dogs for the kids). During this we chatted and talked about our favorite topic adoption and raising our children. While we all chatted, I worked on putting the information into a PowerPoint presentation. I really love to work up an effective presentation that packs a punch for the audience. Nothing more important than doing this on such an important topic – Opportunities. Opportunities to serve others while waiting and after the wait.
Service is important to us and is one of our family’s core values. We also firmly believe in the idea of paying it forward. My father has taught us and shown us how this works to make the world a better place. I cannot thank him enough for this valuable lesson. I owe my father so much in how my life and my character has been formed. I cannot pay back the large debt I owe him for the many times that he helped us when we were starting out or when we ran into trouble or just plain screwed up. However, I can pay him back by helping others in their times of need. We (MaMa and I) practice this in our lives.
Opportunities to serve and help those most in need became the theme for this First Friday in August and I would be given the opportunity to help present the topic with Susan. What a special assignment. We value their friendship so much and their decision to create the community that we cherish called First Friday.
It was another great night spent in the company of friends and Sheridan as much as MaMa and I love to spend time with them. Grace and Mimi are so nice to play with him and it was great watching them enjoy each other’s company. Before the night ended, every toy he owns was on the floor of the sunroom and then stored back into his toys bins prior to their departure.
