A Golf Cart 4th of July

Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life; Friends and Family .

Happy 4th of July —

We got up really early for the 4th of July. We were driving down to the south part of town and be there by 8:00am. With our evening engagement from the third cut a little short (we skipped the fireworks), we were ready for the alarm. We got up, dressed, fed and under way. We arrived just in time and were soon all loaded on the golf cart and off in search of a spot to watch the parade. We were looking for a great spot to see all of the floats and found one by arriving an hour before the parade started. Karen made some muffins and we enjoyed our snack while we waited for the parade.

It was a very fascinating scene to see all of the golf carts in a caravan on the paths on the way to watch the parade. Many families had decorated their carts so they were quite colorful. Karen and Bruce had a big star on the front of theirs and flags with streamers along the roof of the cart. Great job and very colorful.

The kids watched and eagerly picked up candy that was thrown their direction. The president of Chick-fil-A was the grand marshall and there were golf cart floats, horses, politicians in cars (of course), church groups, businesses, and a dragon blowing smoke. T-shirts were passed out. We missed out there. Frisbees were passed out. Frozen ice pops, ice cream treats and all sorts of candy. A great easy way to see a parade.

We then went back to their house for a little R&R and naps for the kids. The MaMas got some time to talk while the kids and BaBas got a short nap. We then went down to see the Fire and Rescue group with their equipment. The kids got to learn about fire safety. They also got to sit in a heliocopter and walk through a fire rescue vehicle. We were there late enough to see the ladder truck bring the ladder down and the heliocopter take off.

A wonderful chicken dinner courtesy of Bruce was our main course. The kids enjoyed it and the adults did as well along with a day with friends featuring fun activities, good conversation and of course watching the kids play.

Looks like a fun day. The little guys look so cute wearing their flag t-shirts and riding in the wagon.
