Dinner Group – 1st Night Out

Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life; Friends and Family .

Aunt Karen and Micah are deployed at our headquarters and Uncle Bruce is deployed at an amo conference. Sounds very similar to Elmo and there was some minor confusion in a conversation. Aunt Karen, Micah and Libby arrived in the early afternoon and are headquarted at the Perry Compound. Found the word bivouacked (a military encampment made with tents or improvised shelters, usually without shelter or protection from enemy fire.) did not fit as you can see by the definition so headquartered is a better choice.

We met many from our adoption group for dinner and enjoyed their company as we descended on the Chick-Fil-A from all directions. We ate, talked and listened to each other’s stories concerning the roller-coaster ride that is adoption. We celebrated the good news from Tymm and Laura concerning their court date on Sheridan’s birthday. We also gave thanksgiving for their news of health improvement for their baby in Ethiopia.

We listened to Pete and Julie as they told of us their news and it is always helpful to be with those who know the twists that roller coaster ride may provide as you wait to complete your adoption. It is no were joke to say — keep your hands and arms in the coaster and make sure your safety harness is secure as you are in for a bumpy ride. It is amazing how you can go from a real high point to a real low point all with the appearance of an email or the ringing of a telephone.

The kids enjoyed playing in the play area and even Aunt Karen climbed into the tubes with the guys. She looks like she had a great time with them as you can see in the photos.

Thanks for the time we had last night. It was wonderful, even if the old guy has little to relate to when the conversation turns to hip-hop music or rafting. All I could add was that I had been on a paddle boat at Calloway Gardens when the guys started talking about rafting. I still enjoyed the company, friendship and time we spent.

I could just turn around and tell you this, but it’s more fun to post a comment. We’re having an excellent time. Thanks for hosting us!

We had a wonderful time having dinner with everyone! It was a night when we needed to be together. Great photos! I just love the photo of Karen and the boys.

I am sure you are enjoying Karen and Micah’s “deployment”.
