Take me to the Fare
Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life; Friends and Family .
Micah, Micah — today we see Micah. Today we see Micah, Uncle Bruce, Aunt Karen, Uncle Eddie, Aunt Kathy and Edison. 6 adults and 3 two year olds equals 1 day of fun.
The weather was slightly iffy today with rain predicted in the morning followed by clearing and cooler temperatures. This was a much better choice than Sunday where it was to be really cold. We attended last April on the first weekend of the Renaissance Fare (2 for 1 tickets on the first day).
We packed up and left for the Fare with a first stop at Uncle Bruce and Aunt Karen’s house to meet them and all go to the Fare. It was on the way down that the clouds broke and the skies started to improve. We arrived and soon were packed up and on the way to the Fare.
We arrived and got the kids bundled into their strollers and set out down to the gates. With tickets purchased, we went into to the fare. There were so many things to see for the boys and so many new sights. The first of these was Mother Goose, a lady in costume with a real goose. One of ducks was placed on my shoulders and was OK until the duck looked at my ear as dinner — OUCH. Sheridan got to sit next to Mother Goose, but was not real sure about her and the goose. He really likes to take things in and analyze everything.
Micah on the other hand sat right down, but did want Karen to sit with him. We got a few photos and were then off to see the Lipizzaner horses. The boys enjoyed seeing the horses while Bruce and Karen marveled at the characters that were present at the Fare. So many attendees enjoy the freedom to come dressed for the occasion in character.
From the stallions, we headed to the joust. All of our party got some lunch ranging from liquid refreshment to turkey leg, burger, chicken tenders, fries and curly fires along with fried Mac & cheese. We got seats at the joust early so the kids could see it. They enjoyed the joust and right as it started, Uncle Eddie, Aunt Kathy and Edison arrived. We finished watching the joust and then walked around the fair. We ended up at the play area where the kids played on the jungle gym and played on the swings. We took in a sheep herding demonstration and then went off to the Washer Woman show. They are funny and entertaining. We left their show in time to catch the last joust of the day.
It is here we ran into problems with a tired little guy. He watched the joust and was overcome with grief. He believed that it was for real and wanted to know what happened to the horses since they were taken off the stage while the knights battled with swords. We had to get him comforted and it was time to leave. We went back to the front and bought return so we could enjoy another day of fun in the kingdom. Uncle Eddie and Aunt Kathy also bought return tickets.
We journeyed back to Uncle Bruce and Aunt Karen’s house. Uncle Bruce and I went out for Bar-B-Q for dinner while the ladies gave the two boys baths. We enjoyed a nice meal and had a wonderful day at the Fare and a good meal with Uncle Bruce and Aunt Karen.
