Friends — A priceless gift

Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life; Friends and Family .

It is great to spend time with friends. Especially someone who has known you more than 2/3 of your life. A friend who knows your heart. Jeff has been my friend since I wondered into the camera store when I was a teenager who could not yet drive. We later worked together and he taught me a lot of what I know about photography. He was my best man when I was married. He took photos at our wedding. As I was later the best man at his wedding. He took photos at my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary (actually both grandparents made this wonderful milestone). He took the photos at the fraternity formal that I was charged with planning.

Just this year he took the photos when Sheridan was baptized. We have both grown gray (though I have much more hair than he does, but it was that way before we were gray). We did grow apart over the years as distance separate us when they moved to the mountains to raise Bradley. It was not so much distance as life got in the way as we both let the rats carry us of in their race. Life get busier and busier and often the important things get dropped for those that are less important, but seem to demand more attention.

We got to spend some time again with them as we did when Sheridan was baptized. They all went to Carrollton to visit the University that Bradley will attend in the Fall. We got together for dinner as they were coming back from Carrollton. We had dinner at Carrabbas and enjoyed the time we spent talking about the future and reliving some old fond memories. It was great to see how Bradley interacted with Sheridan. They had such fun playing with Dorothy’s phone taking pictures. Bradley has a bright future and wants to go into forensics. He has the talent and ability to make this dream a realty. His parents have done a great job in building his character and preparing him for the opportunities that are awaiting him. What a wonderful example that they have set for us as we begin the same journey with Sheridan.

We had a great Sunday. It was a day where we rested and rejuvenated by spending time with friends. New friends and long time friends. It began with music that calmed our souls and a message that we should rest on Sunday as we need a day to recharge before beginning a new week. Keep Sunday as a day of rest where you worship, spend time with family and friends and avoid the hustle and bustle of today’s world. On this Sunday, we were able to do just that and it was great.
