Austin Visit with Travel Group family
Posted by BaBa under: Friends and Family .
The trip to Austin was not all business as I was able to visit with one of the families who were in our larger adoption travel group. They were not in the group that went to Nanjing as their daughter Cameron was in Wuhan. We spent time with them in Beijing and then reunited with them in Guangzhou.
Anne Elizabeth is a one of our Nanjing parents’ best friends. Anne Elizabeth and Belinda worked together for Cox Radio. It was Anne Elizabeth who brought the bells for Kim while in Wuhan.
After the day at the convention center, I journeyed out to their house in Dripping Springs outside of Austin. I got a chance to catch up with Anne Elizabeth until Bryan got home with the girls – Peyton, Carson and Cameron. It was good to catch-up with Cameron’s progress as she has begun to fit into her forever family.
Cameron has had two operations on her palate which has closed the soft palate and now has a dental device to narrow the hard palate before this surgery.
She has come along way from when we were in China and screamed for 5 days. In China, she would have nothing to do with Anne Elizabeth. It is amazing how time and love with God’s grace can help heal the troubled child. This is exactly what has happened in their family as it has in so many other families.
We journeyed to Nutty Brown’s for dinner. It was a uniquely Austin place with the ambience of the west. There was live music there that evening. The music was in the bar and we were seated near the bar but separated from it by glass windows. Therefore, we got the best of everything, the wonderful tones of the band that filtered through the glass and none of the smoke or volume that was too loud.
The evening was a grand success.
It was great to make the time to spend with them while away from home. Here is hoping that they will come to visit us some time soon.
