On the Road Again – Austin
Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life; Travel .
Today I am heading to Austin Texas for an educational computer conference. The TCEA is one of the largest in the nation and really is not a state conference but a national show. I am speaking for Filemaker on rubrics and databases.
It was a bittersweet parting leaving MaMa and Sheridan at home. He has learned so much and seems to have an understanding of my leaving, but not an understanding that we all are not going. I hate that he and MaMa will miss going this time. It just further steels my resolve to be able to take them on more trips in the future. We are hoping that I will have a presentation accepted this summer for Colorado because we will all make that trip. I still remember how much fun it was to be on top of the mountain with snow at the end of June last year. That trip was marked with the arrival of our LOA and my trip to CCAI to sign it.
This trip brings me to Austin to also spend time with one of our travel group from our adoption trip. Anne Elizabeth and entire family went to Wuhan to adopt Cameron. She is a close friend of Belinda who was also on the trip to get Mary Audrey from Nanjing with us. In fact, it was this connection that brought Kim a small replica set of the ancient bells from museum in Wuhan where a short year ago we heard the bells on vacation and thus began our adoption journey to Sheridan.
I am sitting at the airport where the flight to Austin has been delayed by 1 hour so it will not depart until 10:20pm. It will be a late night to arrive in Austin. I am looking forward to seeing the new technology advancements in the vendor hall and more importantly to visit with Ann Elizabeth and family on Thursday night. I am staying in the hotel tonight and Wednesday and then with Anne Elizabeth and family on Thursday before flying home on Friday night.
Actually did not leave until 10:45pm instead of 9:30pm. It is going to be a late night tonight!!
