Baking
Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life .
Today was another quiet day in preparation for Christmas. We went to church in the morning and then to Walmart for some supplies. I was going to have help in baking a few of my Grandmother’s pound cakes for gifts. These are wonderful and bring back special memories for me. Grandmother was an excellent cook and could bake all kind of treats.
He helped by brining over his I want to be taller tool and standing on his stool to observe (help) with every step. I could not get him to taste the batter (yucky). However, when the first crumbs were left in the pan were given to him — YUM, MORE were the two words from the helper. We made 4 cakes today. Each takes about 20 minutes of prep time and then 1 hour of baking. The recipe uses confectioners sugar (need I say more). Of course, I will not as it is a family recipe. It is a small gift, but one that means a lot to me to give to others and it is something that you cannot buy in a store. We will be delivering a few of the cakes to family and close friends in the coming days. |
