Christmas Shopping and Lunch with Lennah

Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life; Friends and Family .

We celebrated school being out today by spending time together and our day started with lunch with Keith, Cathy and Lennah.  I brought along the new camera to take a few shots at lunch.  It was good to have two willing subjects to shoot at lunch. We ate at Sweet Tomatoes.  I should say they ate as I took photos and filled requests for more items from Sheridan.  I don’t have a taste for Rabbitt food, but I enjoyed the company.

As you can see, Sheridan is very happy when eating.  What a smile.  Ms. Lennah will be a charmer as you can see from her gaze at me during her picturetaking.

It turned out that the dean at my college was there treating the administrative staff to lunch.  So I got a chance to introduce him to Sheridan.  He also got to see Ms. Teri who is essential to our department running smoothly.  She got a kiss from him before we left.

We said our goodbyes and headed off to run some errands.  I got lunch to eat on the way from the Varsity (my favorite restaurant) and a local Atlanta Landmark.

Our next stop was to one of Sheridan’s Godparents and a close friend. His family are jewlers and I needed to drop off a couple of items for repair.   I got a chance to see E for a few minutes and to leave the worrybeads for restringing and a bracelett for reglueing.

We decided to brave the crowds and go to a shopping mall to window shop.  We drove north and arrived with one hungry two year old.  He saw the carousel at the food court and wanted to ride.  I got to ride with him and he loved it.  He kept trying to get me to mount a horse to ride next to him, but it is only a children’s carousel. Heloved the music and waved at MaMa each pass.  We shopped a little and then visited the indoor play area.  He played while we watched.  We are working on him playing with others and also by himself instead of having MaMa right next to him.  We arestarting to have some success.  He played with others today.  Just a couple of nights ago, he played with another older boy at Chick-fil-a.  He even went down the slide by himself.

We left the mall and got caught in the worst of Atlanta’s traffic.  We crawled down the road and in doing so had Taz the Tazmanian Devil in the car seat.  He had a bad ride back to our part of time.  At times he really hates to be strapped into the car seat.  This is usually when he is tired.  He was tired and hungry and the progress was slow. We finally made it back to our side of town.

We saw the most plesant site — the familiar yellow building that is Waffle House’s trademark.  Going to  a Waffle House is never a routine experience.  It is open 24 hours a day 365 days a week.  It is unpretentious with good food and often attracts odd characters.  Tonight was no exception.  There was a firefighter either ending a long shift or about to begin one.  He was dressed in his yellow slickers.  There was a homeless guy who was enjoying a hot meal. There was a family with mother and two daughters who dropped in for a quick bite along with a young couple.  However the oddest of the folks were two alternative lifestyle types.  Each of these two (guy and gal) had a boa constrictor wrapped around the necks and they were dressed in camo fatigues.  Sheridan got to pet one of the snakes and to hold it.  The other two girls there also got the same opportunity.

It was obvious that they were frequent customers at this location because the homeless guy took one of the snakes without a second thought on either his or their parts.  As they left, the wait staff told them to bring the hairy spiders next time they came.  What a hoot.    The food was good after we all washed our hands.  We left and had an uneventful ride home.  We all went to bed early as we were tired.  Sheridan got up several times that night  He has some of these nights and they make it hard on all of us, but they do pass.
