Coincidences? No!

Tymm has it right. There are no coincidences. God is working through us and in us as we raise our son and in the formation of our community that supports us in this process. Thanks be to God. It is the end of the term.  I have a little time for reflection with grades for the University students done and the dual enollment students with the local college done.  I only have one more day of exams left before the Christmas break.  At this time last year I was racing around doing paperwork and trying to apply some heat in order to get the coveted I-171H in our hands so the dossier could be off to China. We had not even thought of a referral.  In fact we were only beginning to hear the information about the lengthening wait. Our I-171H would come the day after Christmas and by the 2nd week in January we were finished with the paperchase.   The paperchase was just about staying busy and feeling somewhat in control.

What a difference a year makes.  We are home from China with our new son.  He was and is a perfect fit for our family. We could not imagine that this year we would be celebrating Christmas as a trio. We also could not see where God was bringing us, but only could trust in him. As I look back I see how he has worked in our lives and those that we have touched or have touched us. You see as Tymm said there are no coincidences. There are angels at work here on earth. Those angels are you and me.

Saint Teresa of Avila wrote about this and each Sunday we say this prayer that she wrote to remind us of our calling.

Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

Remember that you are not alone in your journey. God is with you and he will provide for your journey help when you need it. There are many who will pray for you, comfort you, even help you pack when the time comes. Be grateful for the path that you are now on and the journey of your life.

Take comfort in the prayer of Saint Teresa of Avila

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that
has been given to you….
May you be content knowing you are a child of God….
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.
