A Hard Day’s Night
Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life .
It was great to get home and see Magoo this morning as he came in to the bedroom for morning wakeup and cuddles. THis is really a special time of day and a great way to wake up.
I had an uneventful day at work. Just catching up from being gone for two days. Back to the normal life. A great dinner at home and then some play time with Magoo. He got a push trike from a second hand store. I pushed him back and forth across the floor in the Sunroom. I was in my rolling chair and we rolled back and forth across the long length of the Sunroom. Oh so cool.
Going to bedtime was uneventful. I gave him his Elmo book and then read him the book when getting ready for bed. He then read it back to me. Oh yes, he was reading, but still reading using toddler talk. We can’t understand what he is saying, but he is saying something and in this case it is his interpretation of reading book in his hands. He is getting so much better with his language and often strings together two and three word combinations. His favorite phrase is All Done or All Done Now. We said our prayers and off to bed with kisses and I Love You’s. He has started to want morekisses at night andso he says More. More.
He slept a couple of hours and then all you know what broke loose. I put him back to bed when he got out with a little cup of water in his sippee and kissed him. He was a little fussy, but I had done this before. Over the next 2 1/2 hours, he was up a dozen times and crying. I put him back to bed several of these times with a kiss and that is was time for nite nite. Well MaMa had to put him back 1/2 way through this night. He just would not settle or be calmed. I can’t wait forhim to learn more words to tell us what the problem is. These crying bedtimes are not for the faint hearted. It breaks your heart when you cannot console him.
Well I am trying to be "real" and tell those reading about our family adventures that there are timeswhen things are not working well. This is one of those times. I am glad that these times are few and thankful for the joy he has and brings us each day.

Been there…something about changing the routine, can just set things off! After getting more insight Friday night about the looong nights in the orphanage will change the way you react when your “little one” just can’t settle in at night. We have been through so many “rounds” over the last 4 years where MiMi won’t stay asleep…mmmh it comes and goes. But, we have found that rountine and “no sugar” late in the evening helps! Sounds like Sheridan missed his dad while you were gone! The rule of thumb in our house is always routine, routine, routine…gets much easier at our ages, cause we’re too tired at the end of our day to do anything else!! HaHa

Even for a rough night, your little one was still a joy to be with all day!

You did a wonderful job on the sleep issues! You know we have had that here too! Makes for rough nights for sure!
Have a wonderful Christmas with sweet Sheridan!
