See what we have been living with since July —

Outside View  Open Walls  Extra Living Space  Open Walls and Open Roof

I have been trying to get the stalled construction back on track even when were even China. We Alas, I had no luck. I really did not expect to have much luck while I was half a world away. Well, I have been trying to get him going since I returned. I would call and get the voice mail or on the rare time I reached him, I would get excuses as to the heat being too hot to work. Another excuse was Inspectors not coming from Atlanta to other jobs and delaying their completion. I would make another call and there would be another delay on the resumption of construction.

I got tired of it after calling on Tuesday and getting no return phone call. I called three times on Thursday and voice mail each time. The last call was toward the end of the day. I then decided he was screening my calls. I called again ten minutes after the last call from my cell using a school phone. Amazingly, he answered. I said that I was tired of delays and excuses, but still heard some more. I explained that the work was to be completed while we were in China and now we have been home three weeks and still no work. Labor Day had come and gone and so had my opportunity to tile the floor since I would not have another off day till Thanksgiving. I cannot tile a floor in a room that has only a partial roof and no walls.

I also explained that we cannot install the new satellite system in a room that is open to the elements or put in a new TV in a room that is not complete. He promised that the supplies would be delivered today or Friday at the latest.

I got the call today that the supplies for the sunroom construction were not coming today as the truck had been delayed from Macon. It will be here first thing in the morning. The crew will also be here first thing on Friday morning. Finally after weeks of delay, we are going to get finished with the construction and get back to a normal house.

The expansion will help in that Sheridan will have a place to play. We can set up the space for him to spread out. This will also get us some more space for our office and craft area. We will move the sofa out of the existing sunroom and get also get some of the additional space from the addition.

We will also get to install the new TV’s and hook up the new satellite service. We have been without TV since before we left for China. The old dish was taken down when the construction started. We have had a shell on the back of the house with a partial roof and framed walls without windows since July.

It will be good to get things finished and moved into the extra space along with Television back online.
