Omaha Visit
Posted by BaBa under: The Waiting Game .
As part of my trip to Omaha, I had dinner with a couple who are leaving the first week of May to go to pickup their son in Nanjing. It was a very nice dinner at one of the local steak houses. We had a good evening of conversation about the process and our two sons. They told me about their bio-kids and family along with information about Rylan.
They graciously had agreed to take a package to the orphanage for us. MaMa had gone to the local mall and Built an Animal at the Build a Bear. She built Sheridan a dog. She chose the dog since it was one of a few they had that could be machine washed.
I worked on a photo book for him. It was actually a storybook that would tell him about our trip to get him and then take him home. I used maps with a plane flying across the map, a close up of an airplane taking off, a photo of the orphanage and a family picture of us with him (thanks photoshop) in the photo. I added simple English captions as there is a person at the orphanage who speaks English. MaMa also put a blanket in for him. I included a short note for him and for Coco who is the the English speaker at the orphanage.
Our dinner together in Omaha ended all too soon. We will be able to follow their trip online. It was great to hear the enthusiasm and excitement to get Rylan. I think that we will stay in touch as Rylan is approximately the same age as Sheridan.
