Friday Lunch Date and Dinner Appointment
Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life .
TThis is the typical view of a two year old as you cannot move faster than he can. To make matters worse add in another young one and this photo makes perfect sense (LOL).
Today was a busy day for a little one who was grumpy today. It turned out that he was not feeling well from his shots yesterday. We would not find this out until later at dinner when he was really hot.
First he was going to meet Miss. Lenah for lunch. Miss. Lennah has just arrived from Vietnam. In fact she arrived the day we left for China. The story of this lunch date goes back to February. We had just gotten the PA (Pre-Approval) from China for Sheridan and were leaving for our last trip together as a couple only. We were driving to New Orleans to board a ship (RCC) for a cruise (one of our favorite ways to travel). On the second day of the cruise, I am up by the poolside grill (a favorite hangout on ships for me). I walked by a table of several ladies and my now super sharp hearing picked up the phrase home study addendum. My ears had been turned to the phrases since we were in process of adopting. It is amazing the new lingo you learned and what jumps out at you.
I proceeded to ask about the ladies about this and found out that one of them was adopting from Vietnam. I then mentioned that we were adopting from China. Listening to them with their accents from up north, I thought that we might share some stories about the process and that would be it when the ship returned at the end of the cruise to New Orleans. WRONG. We started talking and I soon got Kim to come over. They live in a little town outside of Atlanta. Yes, of course it is our little town. In fact the soon to be mother and her mother both work for the school system as I do. We are separated by about a 15 minute drive. As I have said before, it is another God moment and not a coincidence. I am convinced that God speaks softly to us in what many call coincidences. There are so many of the signs of his hand in our adoption that I feel his love and blessing on us completely.
God brings people into your life at the right time and for the right reasons. This was not a chance meeting. This was his hand again at work in our lives. While I want go as far as predicting a wedding as Lennah’s mom does. I will say that they will have many play dates in their futures. I have a feeling that there are many in our adoption community that will be dreaming of some future wedding for their daughter and our handsome little guy.
Well I will let the photos speak for themselves as to how the day went as I was at work when these two were out with their moms.
I got a much needed haircut today and then came home to go out to dinner with Granpy, MaMa and Sheridan. Granpy had done well not to come over earlier in the week, but it was time to see the boy. He is thrilled with the little one. I hope that they will have many adventures together and this would be the first one. We decided to go to a local all you can eat steakhouse to try to learn more about what Sheridan likes to eat. He was fussy and he was hot. He did not eat much and we could tell that the day had caught up with him and so had the shots from yesterday.
We finished dinner and beat the rain in getting to the K-Mart for a thermometer and children’s Tylenol. He had a fever and so we said good night as soon as we got home. He got a quick bath and an alcohol rubdown. He did not like that, but it did help cool him off. It was a hard night to get him to sleep and then for him to stay asleep. At one point in the night, he got out of bed and stomped his feet on the floor while screaming at the top of his lungs. Yes, of course we came and tried to get him settled. It was a long night all in all. We are going to have to think of how to improve bedtime over the next couple of days so that when his gets better we will have a better plan for bedtime.
One Comment so far...
