A Cloud of Dust
Posted by BaBa under: Preparations .
A cloud of dust, but no hi ho silver or The Lone Ranger. However, it did remind me of the thrilling days of yesteryear when I did home repair jobs. No Lone Ranger, just me in a fog of sheetrock dust so thick that I could hardly breathe. I had to take frequent breaks, but the sanding is done except where the dufus electrician made an extra silver dollar hole when he pulled the wire for the bath fixture. He did not center the hole, so he just drilled another in the center. Instead of fixing his error, he just made another hole, pulled the wire and hid the mess with the installed light fixture. I have spent three days patching the hole and of course can only work in the room during the day as there is no light at night without a fixture
I had help yesterday and we got the bathroom painted except for the silver dollar size hole (being patched). I had fun being a contortionist as I painted behind the toilet tank and the wall. The gap was about 1 inch. Only one coat of paint there. No one is going to look behind the tank and if they tried, they would need a flashlight. Well, the bath will need one more coat except for behind the toilet tank and then I can sand the patched hole. Finally I can paint that and install the new lighting fixture over the mirror.
We almost got the primer on the bedroom before class last night. I had patched the few places in the morning and my help did a lot of clean up in the morning before we could paint. Later that night, I came back from teaching and finished priming the bedroom. I even lathered on a second coat of primer. Saturday there will be time to complete the bath and do two coats on the bedroom.
