Community Support
Posted by BaBa under: Friends and Family; The Waiting Game .
Today, I visited a friend whose son is the same age as Sheridan. We are looking forward to the kids growing up together. His father and mine grew up together. He and I went to high school together and have maintained a friendship for these many years. So this will be the third generation that our families have been together. Kind of neat.
I am working on meeting a couple also adopting from China when I will be in Omaha on business at the end of the month. Their child is also from our same Social Welfare Institute (SWI = orphanage). They are a member of a yahoo group for children being adopted from Nanjing SWI. Isn’t the Internet useful for making new connections with people who have similar interests? I think so.
On Friday morning, we will meet a friend who is preparing to travel to get their second daughter. It will be grand to see her as she has been such as source of support during the entire process for us.
We then go to our First Friday group that evening. It will be a chance to get together with others and see how they are progressing in the process. We find it a great source of support and friendship.
On our yahoo group, there is a family from Germany leaving tomorrow for China. They will be getting their new daughter on Easter Sunday. What a great blessing. They are going to try and visit the SWI and take photos for those of us who are waiting. She is also going to try and post those photos while traveling. We are so anxiously awaiting any news from China about Sheridan or our travel.
I hope that we will have some new photos soon.
Well, as you can read, we are staying connected within our community as we wait for Travel Packet II (TPII).
