First Hockey Game
Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life .
Yesterday, we went to our first hockey game. We had tickets that Sheridan won by reading books this summer and so we journeyed downtown to the game. We made a full day of our first day of the Christmas break. We started with Tae Kwon Do and then picked up a new GPS at Staples on a very good deal as part of an early Christmas present for MaMa. We then came home to change and journey out. We ran a couple of errands and then off to one of the oldest shopping malls in America. It has been continuously updated since it was first built in the late 1950’s. It is now one of the poshest malls in the city.
We had dinner at the food court and spent a little time people watching before doing our window shopping. Both of the parental units came to the conclusion that we are neither fashion conscious nor stylish and certainly not impressed by those that are or the stores selling this overpriced stuff. $45 for a small crystal tree ornament is just one example of this excess. However, the decorations were nice and the people were interesting to watch. MaMa then dropped us off at the hockey game while she was off to IKEA to shop and then pick us up after the game.
We really enjoyed the match. I did not know how well Sheridan would like it as he found the basketball game that we went to earlier really boring. I attend to agree as basketball is trading leads until the last couple of minutes which then takes 30 minutes to play with the timeouts and all the fouls.
Oh well, back to hockey. He enjoyed the pre-game hype along with the bottomless popcorn tub and soda cup. Our team scored first and then twice more within 90 seconds. We won the match easily and there were a lot of goals. I tried to explain penalties along with power plays and penalty killing. I am not a huge hockey fan, but I really enjoyed it and so did Magoo. It was a fun night and it always good when the home team wins and our case moves into 1st place. Enjoy the photos below including a self-portrait.
