Trip Day 9 — Homeward Bound & Home Again

Posted by BaBa under: Travel .

We slept in a little later today and had then had some cuddle time in the bed. This is always a great way to start the day. Sheridan and I went to breakfast, while MaMa talked to Ms. Donna on the phone. These two had not talked for most of the week and they had missed talking to each other and needed to catch up. MaMa came down to breakfast and we were almost finished with our breakfast. She got a bite to eat and then we went for a short dip in the hot tub. We enjoyed a short stay and a conversation with a lady from Minneapolis.

We returned to the room and watched a little TV and packed the last few items so that we were ready to go to the lobby for a shuttle ride to the airport. We had another nice conversation with Mohammed, the hotel GM and then a short uneventful ride to the airport. Going through was a breeze and we found the gate with 2 hours to spare.

I now had time to forage for food. The sandwich shops were really expensive for a very small portion, so I found out that there was a Burger King on another concourse. Sheridan and I were able to take a shuttle between the concourses and get to the BK. This was a great experience because he got to ride on the Tarmac to get a close-up view of the planes and see what security is in place as we along with other travelers were escorted every step of the way. We got back and had lunch and then were able to board.

The flight home was eventful in that MaMa’s backpack got hung on something under the seat in front. Magoo tried to free it from out side with no luck. We had to get a flight attendant to loan us a flashlight and had to ask two of the people ahead of us to stand for a couple of minutes while Magoo successfully freed the bag. In all of years of flying this is the first time something so strange has happened. No worries as it all worked out.

Magoo is now a seasoned traveler. He was adept at carrying his luggage which consisted of his backpack and rolling backpack. His backpack is smaller than ours of course, however his rolling bag is identical to ours. He is a great little traveler and we had a wonderful trip. It is fun to be able to show him some of the larger world that we all live in.
