Trip Day 1 — Up, Up & Away

At the bottom, you can see that Sheridan was ready to go, go, go. I was too and sprinted out of school this afternoon like a child who has just been paroled. I wanted to get out and beat the buses in order to arrive home and begin our holiday.

Sheridan was ready to go as he has been all week. This is the day that he has been waiting for all week. His new backpack had even come today just in time for the trip.

Mom and Dad arrived shortly to take us to the airport and we made excellent time arriving at the airport. I got “picked” to go through the new body scanner, but all in all we had no issues with security. We arrived at the gate early in time to forage for dinner from the fast food choices. MaMa and Sheridan had Popeye’s chicken and I had a cheese steak hoagie.

The only excitement was a portable version of Mt. Vesuvius of my own creation.

I had poured the soda left over from dinner into one of Sheridan’s nalgene straw drinking contraptions. We boarded early with no issues and MaMa noticed there was slight leak. Well I went to open it and in went the air and down to the bottom. This of course caused the liquid to be forced up through the drinking tube and with great excitement out the top in long arc. Luckily I was the only one who was now covered in Fanta Orange.

One can only imagine what I looked like to those around me, but I have a good idea that it was hilarious to see. When I get a chance I will get cleaned up as best I can and hope for less eventful episodes on our trip.
