Boy’s Night Out

Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life .

Tonight was MaMa’s night out with Co-op Homeschool group and so we spent the night out together.

We went to see Forever Shrek at the cheap theater on the other side of town. Movies have gotten to be so expensive and MaMa and I had given up going to the movies. Several years ago, we invested in surround sound before it was so common in order to have a small version of theater in our home. This improved with the advent of HDTV, but still this is not like be3ing in a theater. In truth, I had always loved going to the movies. Part of this maybe due to working at one of the great movie palaces in the world when I was in college.

Well this summer we re-discovered the movies when we found the only discount movie house on our side of town. It is affordable to go to the movies for 3 for under $10 with a large tub of popcorn. You even get a refill on the popcorn.

I do not know where the second run theaters have gone, but in this time with the sad state of the economy, we need more of them.

We started the morning off by running a couple of errands including going to Lowe’s to build a bug box. We both enjoy these free building workshops. We then ran by the library to return a video- Julie and Julia. It was really well done with Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. Amy Adams seems to fill the current Meg Ryan roles in today’s movies. She was really good in Leap Year.

Another stop brought us to a local jewelry store to pick up Sheridan’s cross that had to have the Jade re-glued. We then went home for a short while and left for the movies. MaMa went to Mother’s night out with the co-op homeschool group. She is finding friends in the group and enjoying these outings. Sheridan is not enjoying her outings as he does not want to parted from MaMa. However he has enjoyed spending time with me. He just loves to have both of us together with him.

We saw Forever Shrek. Dreamworks has another hit on their hands. It was a good film that added some additional details to the Shrek franchise. It was also good that Sheridan had just read about Rumplestiltskin (by coincidence). He enjoyed the movies and chowing down on the popcorn. We left the movies and ran one errand before eating dinner at his favorite place – Arby’s or as he says RBees. As you can tell from the pictures, he really enjoyed RBees.

Another nice day for the two of us and MaMa had a great dinner and a fun filled night of put-put. Thus everyone had a great time.
