Don’t Leave Us With The Babies
Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life .
You might remember the Airtran Airways commercial –
Well we don’t have the “babies”, but we have Sheridan. He was going to spend the day with his NaNa and YeYe. We were going to a home-school conference and he was not. He was really looking forward to spending the day with them as he does not get to do this that often. Sheridan is allergic to cats and his grandparents have had 5. They have lost 2 of their cats to old age (19 years +) this year.
Last night, Sheridan was planning what to take to his grandparents and getting ready for the short trip to their house. They were also busily planning for his arrival – little did we know of their plans until we arrived this morning.
They had decided that he was a little too full of energy for them. So they called my sister and had his 10 year old twin cousins spend the night. So we were surprised to see B and C when we arrived this morning. It was smart of them to provide backup for their. They started with a visit to Waffle House for dinner and then onto to the movies to see Despicable Me. It was not one that I would have chosen, but it was OK as I trust their judgement. Then swimming at the neighborhood pool.
We had a good time at the conference. Two really good sessions, one OK session and two awful session. The great sessions were about teaching gifted children. The OK session was also on gifted children. One awful session was on great curriculum, just a dreadfully boring speaker. The other session was the WORST. This lady saw a Communist behind every door, the UN behind our education standards in the public schools, an organized effort from the government to brain wash our children and an attack by the ACLU, Gay and Lesbians along with the media’s desire to control our children’s thinking. She must have gone to a conspiracy theory school, because she made dots where there were none and connected these dots to create her on vision of a conspiracy to start a War against our Children. All of this was crouched in her and her church’s Christian view of the World.
Oh well, we learned some new ideas and any conference where we learn one idea is a good one.
We returned to Nana and YeYe’s house to pickup the boy and found him playing outside with B and C with no sign of the grandparents. We went inside and they were both getting up from laying down for a rest. He had tuckered them out.
What a funny ending to the day. He was good as gold with his behavior, but being around 3 kids for a full day made for tired grandparents.
