Silver Linings
Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life; Special Days .
Often there are silver linings inside difficult circumstances. We are undergoing such a time in our extended family. It is not something that I will write about in detail as it is a private matter and not within our nuclear family.
The silver lining for us is that we had had an opportunity to spend more time with our grandchildren. This weekend we took our daughter-in-law and grandchildren to a local watermark. We had a blast during our day. I will not kid you it was HOT. REALLY HOT that day, but we still had a great time despite the hear. We picked them up early in the morning and with a picnic packed in the van, we were ready for a day of fun.
One of the kid play areas that had been closed most of the summer had been re-opened. FR (our grandson) wanted to spend the day playing with his Uncle Sheridan. Uncle Sheridan just loves FR and thought that this was a great idea. They had a blast and Uncle Sheridan succeeded in tiring out his 16 year old nephew.
K2 (our granddaughter) brought a friend with her to the park and spent most of the day with her. K (our daughter-in-law) spent the day talking-to MaMa. I spent some time in the water floating down the lazy river. I also spent time playing with Sheridan. He went on one of the medium older kid slides. He has not yet gotten the hang of sliding. He inched his way down the slide like an inchworm. Needless to say his second run on this slide resulted in the next slider colliding with our inchworm. He was OK, but it greatly offended his sense of fair play.
We had a grand day at the water park. It has been a wonderful summer to get spend more time with K, K2 and FR. We are very thankful every minute we spend with them. We cannot recover the events that we have missed in the past, but instead look forward to spending more time with them enjoying meals together, movies and our everyday lives.
In everything gives thanks.
