First Day Of Summer

Posted by BaBa under: Holidays .

As Zig Ziglar says you have two choices in life — 1. Got To and 2. Get To. Today, I experienced both. However sometimes the difference between the two is one of perspective.

I Got To go and work graduation early this morning. It really was not something that I looked forward to doing. Truth be told, I actually was dreading the five hour ordeal where at least half would be spent baking under the hot sun with nothing to do but listen to speeches and a roll call of 700 names.

Well I escaped the job of sitting on the field because I got a special last minute job that required Mama secure a CD with the senior song for the ceremony from a store. She went on a long goose chase to secure the needed music (5 different stores to be precise). Once this was delivered, I was free. No hot seat in the sun and an early release — a good ending to this duty.

Back to the Got To idea. You could also classify this as a Get To. I Get To go to graduation and work because I have a job which so many others do not in this economy. So it is a matter of perspective. I choose to be positive and see it as a Get To.

The definite Get To for the day was spending the rest of the day with Sheridan. Mama had to work a curriclum fair and then have Girls Night Out. So he and I rushed to the cheap movies to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

. We worked that it might have been too much for him, but other than having to hold his ears twice when he got a little scared, he loved it. We then ate at Fudruckers and went to our water park. We swam and played and left only when the park was closing. It was obvious that he did not want the day to end and neither did I. We had a great time and finished with dinner at Arby’s (one of his favorite places). What a great way to start the simmer and to remind me to be grateful for the Got To of going to work so that I Get To have money and time to spend having fin with Magoo.
