Watching Nature
Posted by MaMa under: Daily Life .
As many of our readers know, we are homeschooling Sheridan. It has been a most interesting year so far with both of us learning many new and exciting things.
This year, science hasn’t been a structured curriculum. We have just been enjoying what nature has to offer. Sheridan is fascinated that birds will come to his bird feeder. He gets really angry when a pesky squirrel takes off with the suet feeder and leaves it at the end of the driveway.
At the moment, we are following the adventures of Molly the barn owl and her offspring. Molly has made a nest in a barn owl house in California. The people who made the box equipped it with a live feed web cam so you can see what is happening inside the nest. Quite fascinating!!! We have watched as two owlets have hatched and as McGee, Molly’s mate, has brought her food (usually still wiggling).
If you have children, they would probably love to watch what is going on. Even as an adult, I am amazed to see what happens day to day. Here is the link: http://www.sportsmansparadiseonline.com/Live_Owl_Nest_Box_Cam.html
The picture will be in black and white during the night time hours and in color during the day time.
Enjoy!
