Christmas Eve 2009

Magoo has decided that he officially likes snow. T finished her work today which was a half day followed by her interviewing for some data entry help. Once she got dinner prepped, whe was ready to go out and play in the snow. So J, T, Magoo and I went out in the snow. This was trip outside number 2 for most of us. J worked on a snow tunnel through the mounds of snow which had created a snow fort. He did this last year and the snow was now the right consistency for tunneling. So Sheridan got his shovel and J got his and they worked until the linked the holes from each side. J then made it larger so that bigger people could go through not just Magoo. Everybody went through at least once except for BaBa who did not have a snow suite and would soon have wet frozen jeans if he made the trip through the tunnel. Sam and Chase (the dogs) enjoyed going through the tunnel. Sam enjoyed playing in the snow while Chase who has cataracts and is blind just enjoyed being with the rest of us.
Soon we got out the sled we bought last year and they took turns pushing the rider to glide down the driveway. Magoo has no fear as evidenced by his ride choices at the Mall of America wanted to go faster. J decided that he could pull him behind the 4 wheeler and off they went. Sheridan did really well and J is a good driver. We had really emphasized to Sheridan that he had to hold onto to the handles and keep his balance. Balance is not yet a concept that he has yet to fully master, but he did really well and only tumbled off when they hit a snow drift. T decided to go for a turn and really enjoyed it as you can see on her face. I took Magoo for another 4 wheeler ride with me after he had ridden with J. J even took Sam for a ride and then it was time to go in.
Our Christmas Eve Meal consisted of steak, rice and carrots or for me orange and apple. We enjoyed our meal and watched a marathon of the World’s Deadliest Catch. Fishing in Alaska near the ice is no picnic. The boats were putting out pots for crab and working in freezing to sub-zero temperatures at times for 20 hour + shifts. Not a job for me.
After dinner, we exchanged gifts and then watched Christmas Vacation on DVD. Soon it was time ofr bed so that Santa could make his trip and we would be rested for our trip to Chicago tomorrow.
As I have heard it said for many years — Merry Christmas to All and to all a good night.
