BaBa the Builder

Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life .

In our last episode of BaBa the Builder about one month ago, we found our hero — BaBa having finished the cabinet doors and drawer fronts. BaBa was then called to work on the kitchen cabinets and given a huge order to install custom slider drawers on all the cabinets. He asked for help from his trusty helper Magoo. So, over the last of June and first week of July our trusty Builder (BaBa) and his helper Magoo worked. And they worked. And they worked. They replaced the kitchen cabinet knobs. They measured and re-measured. They cut lumber and sanded lumber. They used tools such as the combination square and Magoo’s favorite the flashlight. BaBa would retreat to the lower part of the house to use the table saw which Magoo said was “Too Loud” and the sander — also too loud. However, the loudest of all was the air compressor driving the brad nailer.

Magoo would attempt to use the drill, but as an first year apprentice this tool was not yet authorized for his use. He did get his own version of this — a powered screw driver and scrap lumber to practice on. Slowly things came together. The pantry was first to be completed. Then came the bar with two special cabinet sliders and the removal of a center stile for the largest sliding drawers. Magoo would crawl in (checking the fit or the load tolerance of the sliding drawer). Finally, instead of “Can We Build It” they were both able to say “Yes We Did.”

The end of the story was the MaMa client was pleased with the work and would have another task for our talented Builder and his helper. This new task would include Rainbow the wonder dog. Stay tuned for photos of the finished project and more adventures of BaBa the Builder.
