Always a time to teach – Responsibility

Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life .

Bob is Sheridan’s newest buddy. Bob was bought at a consignment sale. Bob is a vinyl lunchbox that carries SNACKS. MaMa was going on her daily outings with Sheridan and Bob. She told Sheridan that he should bring Bob into the house at the end of their errands. He said no. Bob stayed in the car. Today, he was slightly surprised to find that Bob was out of SNACK (special water and snacks to be precise).

MaMa explained that this was a natural consequence of not taking Bob inside to be replenished. Sheridan said that was MaMa’s responsibility and MaMa said no it was his responsibility. To this he replied, “My only responsibility is to Sleep.”

MaMa quickly found a parking lot. She then stopped and Sheridan got to visit the wall (the side of the car). He was slightly surprised that the side of the car was also a wall or was it that he was surprised that she could stop the car this quickly. Either way, he did his time.

It is our responsibility that he learn natural consequences of his actions and that he does not outgrow his britches just yet.

What a hoot! Looks like we really have to keep our eyes on that guy!
Joanna Mai likes to whine/cry to get our last nerve. If she starts this (or participates in some other form of undesirable behavior) or refuses to stop crying, we pull over, take her out of the seat, stand her a safe distance away from the truck (back toward us) until she stops crying. I like the idea of “the wall” – less to look at – I’ll try it next time…….

One of the hardest parts of parenting!
