University Cancellation

It is hard to believe that only a week ago this past Sunday that we were watching snow fall on our city on March 1st. Snow in March and the only snow of the winter. We enjoyed the last blast of Winter’s beauty as it fell and I prepared to go across town for a meeting Sunday night and Monday. I did not want to leave and just wanted to be a kid again and hope that school would be closed. No such luck. Closed or not, I did not have to be there on that Monday.

We had a gradual warming trend over the next few days and by Friday you will know that it had snowed. I don’t want to forget that this was a curious week. It started with the snow on March 1st and then on that Tuesday my evening class was canceled. I do not know who was more excited to get the automated phone call canceling class — (MaMa, Magoo or me).

A prisoner was being transported from one state to another. The officer stopped at Waffle House to get food. Lil Houdini as he is called, slipped his cuffs and leg shackles and bolted from the car while the officer was inside. The campus was locked down as this was only a block away. The administration canceled night classes and we had a night off.

We had one of the rare weeknights together where we had dinner and baked cookies while enjoying each other’s company. A real treat. The rest of the week flew by as the College students are on Spring Break next week and we will have time together each night.
