REI January Clearance

Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life .

It is that time of year for a giant sale at one of our favorite stores — REI. We are not great outdoor people as in hikers, bikers, climbers or campers. We do love their great gear. They have really neat gear from shoes to luggage to accessories including water bottles, clothing and such. This was the time of year for 50% OFF clearance sale. Take the lowest price and then take 50% off.

Well, say no more. We were in bargain hunting mode. We had long looked at luggage from REI because it was durable and lightweight and just fit for our method of traveling light for long periods. So we found our carry-on luggage (3) at a great price. We also found online a great price from their outlet store on three checked bags. We will use the checked bags when traveling overseas or a long car trip. No airlines for checked bags in the US because of the stupid fees now tacked on to check any bag. We are used to being very careful with weight on checked bags for European flights when flying the Cheapo Carriers such as Easy Jet and Ryan Air. We are hoping to take Sheridan to Ireland in Feb. of 2010 if the deal (price) is right.

We hit three (yes three) REI stores on this day. There are 4 in town, but the 4th is a real journey from us. So we settled on just 3. We found different items at each. MaMa got some new house shoes as did I. Magoo got new Keens for the summer. I picked up one additional pair of Keens. We bought some flat plates and cups. These are really cool. They were for camping and you fold them into a plate or cup. This is a great thing to carry on picnics or overseas trips where we really on picnics for at least one of our meals.

We also found Magoo a new buggy, but that is a separate post. We will really enjoy using this at Disney next month and on our other outings. Finally, we got steel water bottles for us to carry beverages on our outings. It is so much easier and less expensive to bring your own food and drink on outings and of course much cheaper. We try to picnic and pack for our outings. This is our plan for Disney next month.

So we have had a great time today scooping up some awesome bargains while shopping and of course enjoying our day together as a family.
