Being an Older Parent
Posted by BaBa under: Observations .
I like being an older parent and this is good since I cannot change where am I am life or when Magoo came into to our family. Being an older parent has many benefits.
- You are more thoughtful and reflective about how you parent.
- You do not second guess yourself or your partner.
- You support your partner’s deicisions.
- You and your partner are a team.
- You present unified guidelines for your child.
- You see the consequences of the easy decision and try instead to make the right decision.
- You move a little more slowly, but you don’t miss as many of the little important things in life.
- You are even more aware of the wonder in how your child is changing and growing day by day.
- You are thankful for each blessing each day.
- You are tired at the end of the day, but it is a different tired than before.
- You are in a state of shock and awe concerning the tasks of parenting, metoring and coaching your child day by day.
- You wonder how you qualified for the job of parent, but are glad that you did.
- You love this job and wonder what life was before you got the job.

All I know is you guys are fabulous parents and I wouldn’t say you are older, just well seasoned for the task since you have older children already! Trust me, by the 6th kid you feel pickled!

Well stated. We are 50 & 58 with a 2 year old – being an older parent rocks!
