Birthday Bash and Future Buddy
Posted by BaBa under: Friends and Family; The Waiting Game .
Today, we went to a birthday party for Eddison (son of Eddie (neat play on words)). Eddison is 2 years old and his birthday is 3 days later than Sheridan’s birthday. This makes for a good time to share this family story along with some family history.
It is our hope that Sheridan and Eddison will grow up to be friends and be close. My father and Eddie’s father grew up together and have been friends for many, many years (70+ years). Eddie and I went to high school together and we have become good friends after high school. We knew each other in high school, but were really only acquaintances. We have kept in touch during the years when MaMa and I lived out of state and continued this friendship when we returned back home.
Eddie and Kathy are who we selected to be guardians of our child when we started the adoption process in August of 2006. At that time, we were expecting a girl of unknown age (probably 1 year old). It just happened that God had other plans and we got matched with a little guy who is 3 days older than Eddison. Too hard to believe that this was a mere coincidence. God works in mysterious ways. Once we get Sheridan home, Kathy and Eddie will be one set of his Godparents.
I have posted a couple of cute pictures of Eddison at the birthday party on Saturday.
MaMa and I then went shopping. I bought a new pair of Keen sandals for me. They were on sale at REI for still more money than I have ever paid for sandals, but they are very comfortable. I liked the fact that the toes are enclosed and they are comfortable to walk in. MaMa liked that they are washable and would be good for our trip to China. We then went to the mall to walk around, but only window shopped. We drove back to our side of town and went to see Shrek 3. I was able to get passes to the theater (it is way too expensive to go at night) and we walked across the street to have a quick bite at the Varsity.
It was like going on a real date and something that we had not done in such a long time. The Varsity is an Atlanta landmark and we went to one of the newer locations. It is my favorite place for a hamburger (a mainstay in my diet).
Our plans for the rest of the weekend are to work on his room by continuing to do painting on the shelves and headboard. We have plans for a dinner with a church group on Sunday. Monday will include more painting and some resting.
