Bump in the Night
Posted by BaBa under: Daily Life .
An old Johnny Carson joke (really dating myself) used when he was the great Karnac has been updated. Ghosts, Goblins and Sheridan. And the question is – Name three things that go bump in the night.
Thump, thump, thump. That is what he does when he is put to bed, but does not stay in bed. You can hear the small elephant (sounds like a small elephant) thumping around upstairs. Well those sounds are to be expected. It is when he decides to sneak down for another cuddle that we have to be firm about going back to bed.
Tonight, we heard the eerie type of BANG that shatters the nice quiet late night air. BANG. Sounds like a chandelier had dropped from the ceiling onto the floor. However, we know that this not the case. It is Sheridan who has rolled out of bed while asleep. Just about the time you fly to the top of the stairs, the next sound is heard. We have been invaded by a banshee. The howl of this banshee is unearthly and shrill as the revelation of what has happened settles in on Magoo who has taken the plunge without a parachute only to prove the law of gravity.
I am first to arrive and try to comfort the little guy. This has been successful on a couple of recent nighttime bedroom antics, but not tonight. Not only did he crash to the floor, but to add insult to injury he bonked his head on the nightstand as he tried to stand up while still partly asleep.
MaMa soon appeared and all was well. It is amazing to see the power that God has given to MaMa’s to heal in all occasions the wounds of life. I have been given the aurora of being able to fix anything. Life through the eyes of our little guy.
